Welcome to the online Burning Man Survival Guide

This guide is mandatory reading for all Burning Man participants. We strongly recommend you familiarize yourself with the site, and if you're looking for specific information, browse the menus above to find what you're looking for, or search by keyword (RVs, trash, ice, bikes, etc.). We've also included a list of links to helpful associated topics on each page. This Survival Guide can be accessed from your computer, iPad or smartphone, and you can download a PDF (15 MB) of it to your device for offline browsing, so you can reference it (and things like "where do I take my trash?") when you're on the road to and from Burning Man.

Burning Man - August 26 – September 2, 2013

Burning Man takes place in the beautiful, remote and inhospitable Black Rock Desert of Nevada, in a temporary metropolis called Black Rock City. As wonderful a place as it is, the desert is governed by physical laws that cannot be ignored. You are responsible for your own survival, safety, comfort, and well being, and for ensuring you Leave No Trace. This Survival Guide will help you prepare to survive and thrive at Burning Man, from the moment you decide to go, through your time on playa, to your return home. It is essential reading for every participant—first-timers and veterans alike. Read this Survival Guide carefully and make sure EVERYONE in your group reads it too.
